So you’re lactose intolerant. What now?
We know it can be really overwhelming to find out you are lactose intolerant. Our co-founder Katy was devastated thinking she could never have her favorite foods again. While it can sound scary, it doesn’t have to be and, here at Beckon, we want to help! There are 5 key things that are useful to know if you or a loved one is lactose intolerance.
- Lactose Intolerance is extremely common: As a matter of fact, 1 in 4 Americans are lactose intolerant. Lactose intolerance is even more common within certain ethnicities such as Asian Americans and African Americans.
- You can still enjoy your favorite dairy foods: There are a lot of health benefits to eating dairy and we recommend trying to eat a bit of dairy in small doses. There are also lactose-free dairy products that are a great source of calcium, protein and other essential nutrients! - Find what works best for you: Remember that no one is the same! Some people may be more sensitive than others and it is important to know your limits. It’s all about trial and error.
